Buyer's guide · 2026

The best email signature software for small business — a honest 2026 comparison.

There are only about five tools worth considering. They each fit a very different shape of company, and picking the wrong one costs you a rollout weekend and a per-seat bill you'll regret. Here's what each is actually best at — including where Wren (our tool) isn't the right pick.

We build Wren, so this comparison is not neutral — but the goal is to help you pick right, not push you our way if you don't fit. Pricing reflects public plans as of early 2026.

Pick by team shape, not feature list

  • Solo or freelancer WiseStamp. Big library, works out of the box, no need to think about team management.
  • 5–100 person team → Wren. Flat price, central design, banner you swap live. This guide's main audience.
  • 100–500 with IT → Wren still fits (up to 100), or Newoldstamp if you need per-department A/B testing.
  • 500+ with IT and complex rules Exclaimer. Only tool with real server-side enforcement.
  • Google Workspace, cost-first SignatureSatori. Cheap and admin-set, but design is basic.

WrenUs

Free for 1 · $99/mo up to 50 · $199/mo up to 100
Best for: 5–100 person teams that want one flat price and a swappable banner

Strength. Flat pricing, forty designer templates, live-swap banner campaigns, per-teammate install links, click tracking. No IT project.

Watch out. No server-side injection — if you need signatures enforced across thousands of mailboxes via directory rules, look at Exclaimer.

WiseStamp

Free (with brand) · ~$6/user/mo Pro
Best for: Solo founders and freelancers who want one polished personal signature

Strength. Big template library, easy solo setup, add-on widgets (Instagram feed, disclaimers, CTA buttons).

Watch out. Per-user pricing gets expensive fast on a team; no central campaign banner control for the whole company.

Exclaimer

Per-mailbox annual contract; talk-to-sales
Best for: Mid-market and enterprise with dedicated IT running Microsoft 365 at scale

Strength. Server-side signature enforcement, deep directory integration, complex routing rules by department, SLA-backed uptime.

Watch out. Overkill for teams under ~200 — the setup is an IT project and the pricing model punishes small companies.

Newoldstamp

~$8/user/mo Business
Best for: Sales-heavy teams who want signature analytics and A/B testing

Strength. Detailed analytics per campaign, A/B testing, department-level template variants.

Watch out. Per-seat pricing; template designs feel dated compared to newer tools.

SignatureSatori

~$1/user/mo
Best for: Google Workspace shops that want centrally-set signatures via the Google API

Strength. Cheap per-seat, Google Workspace-native, admin-set signatures via the API.

Watch out. Google Workspace only — no Outlook or Apple Mail — and the design surface is very basic.

What to actually look for

  • Flat vs per-seat pricing. At 20 people, per-seat looks fine. At 60, it's 3× more expensive than flat and you're locked into an annual contract.
  • Banner swap workflow. Can you change the campaign banner across the whole company from one place, without every teammate re-installing? If not, you'll never actually use it as a marketing channel.
  • Install visibility. Does the tool show who has installed their signature? Without it, rollouts stall around 60% and stay there.
  • Click tracking honesty. Every good tool tracks banner clicks. Any tool promising "open tracking" for signatures is bending the truth — Gmail proxies images through Google's cache and it's not measurable reliably.
  • Design quality out of the box. A tool that gives you a blank canvas isn't doing you a favour. You want ten to twenty designer-made templates that already look good, then customise from there.
