How to add a signature in Apple Mail (Mac)

Short answer
Open Mail, Settings, Signatures, click +, uncheck "Always match my default message font", paste your signature, then drag the logo file from Finder onto the preview.

    Open Mail Settings

    From the menu bar: Mail then Settings... (older macOS: Preferences...). Click the Signatures tab.

    Pick the account and add a signature

    Choose the account on the left. Click + to add a signature and name it.

    Uncheck 'Always match my default message font'

    Uncheck it at the bottom, otherwise Mail overrides your fonts and colors on send.

    Paste your signature

    Click into the empty preview and paste with Cmd+V. Don't have one yet? Open the free generator.

    Drag the logo in (the trick)

    Save your logo as a .png. Drag the file directly onto the placeholder logo in the preview. Apple Mail embeds it as an inline attachment, so recipients see it every time.

    Set as default for the account

    Under Choose Signature, pick your new signature as default. Close and test.

Menu names occasionally move — look for Settings → Signature.

Multiple signatures per account

Apple Mail lets you keep several signatures per account and pick one when composing (dropdown below the From field).

Sync to iPhone via iCloud

Enable Mail under System Settings, Apple ID, iCloud. Even then, iPhone Mail renders a simplified plain-text version. See the iPhone guide.

Logo shows to you but not the recipient

You pasted the image instead of dragging the file in. Delete the image in the preview, re-download the logo, and drag the .png from Finder onto the preview.

Formatting breaks in Gmail replies

Gmail nests replies inside a grey block. Wren's signatures are built on a 520px table that survives that reflow.

›Why is my logo missing when recipients open the email?
You pasted the image instead of dragging it in. Delete the logo in the preview and drag the saved .png from Finder onto it.

Bottom of the Signatures tab in Mail Settings.
›Different signatures for different aliases?
Apple Mail attaches signatures to accounts, not aliases. Pick the right signature manually in the compose window.
›How do I change my signature later?
Mail, Settings, Signatures. Click the name and edit.
›Signature isn't appearing in sent messages.
Check the compose window's signature dropdown or set your new signature as default in the Signatures tab.
